Charwala is made of fine cotton or woolen threads with a stick handle used to sweep dust particles and to make the space free of subtle living beings. 

It is used to clean the place before sitting or standing to prevent any harm to microorganisms during samaik and pratikramans. A Charwala is also used to keep away the bugs coming towards us so that they do not get hurt.
